Terms of Service

Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using Liminal Crates(the "Software"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

License

Liminal Crates is open-source software released under the MIT License, unless otherwise noted for bundled third-party components. You may use, copy, modify, and distribute the Software subject to the MIT License terms.

Your music and content

You are solely responsible for the audio files and metadata you import, convert, sync, or edit with Liminal Crates. You must have the right to possess and use that content. Liminal Crates does not provide, license, or stream music on your behalf.

You retain all ownership of your files. The Software processes them locally on your devices.

YouTube and third-party downloads

Optional features may let you import audio from a YouTube URL (or similar sources) into your local library.Liminal Crates is not responsiblefor any content you download. You alone must ensure you have the legal right to download and use that content. Downloading may violate YouTube's or other platforms' Terms of Service. Use of those features is at your own risk; we do not encourage copyright infringement.

Audio conversion

Format conversion tools are provided for managing files you already have the right to use. You are responsible for complying with any license terms that apply to converting or redistributing those files.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Software for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' systems via the sync protocol
• Reverse engineer or redistribute modified builds in a way that misrepresents their origin, except as permitted by the MIT License
• Use the Software to infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights

No accounts; local operation

Liminal Crates v1 does not require user accounts. Features operate locally and over your own network. We do not guarantee availability of third-party services (app stores, etc.).

Phone companion beta

A phone companion (iOS/Android) may be offered later via private beta or app stores. Until then, join the waitlist on our website. If you later obtain a companion through the Apple App Store or Google Play, your use is also subject to that store's terms. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms.

Donations

Optional donations support development. Donations are voluntary and do not entitle you to specific features, service levels, or refunds unless required by applicable law or the payment processor's policy.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT IT WILL PRESERVE YOUR FILES WITHOUT BACKUP.

You are responsible for maintaining backups of your music library and important data.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIMINAL CRATES AND CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Liminal Crates and contributors from claims arising out of your use of the Software, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Liminal Crates operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer protection laws in your country.
